Biocontrol of rice sheath blight with microorganisms obtained in rice cultivated soils

چکیده
Actinobacteria of the genus Streptomyces are part soil microbiota from rice-growing areas and along with other microorganisms, such as Trichoderma spp., combine to act natural enemies against destructive soil-borne pathogen Rhizoctonia solani, causal agent rice sheath blight disease. In this study, seven actinobacteria three fungi genera Purpureocillium were isolated soils cultivated using serial dilution method. spp. M2A2 was selected for its ability significantly reduce in vitro growth R. solani by 52% after 96 h antibiosis dual culture, while control treatment mycelial 100%. Furthermore, biocontrol efficacy treated plants susceptible cultivar Fedearroz 68 confirmed onset symptoms delayed up 14 days, compared treatment. Rice showed lesions reaching 0.7% plant height, effectiveness similar difenoconazole treatment, whereas covered 34% height. When antagonist fungus M2H1, presented a better performance biological control. The results clearly demonstrated that isolate growing has efficiency therefore can be promising agent.

Sheath Blight and Its Management in Rice
Rhizoctonia solani AG1-IA, is the most economically important disease in Texas and other southern rice-producing states. The disease is widespread and occurs every year. The disease was first reported in Japan in 1910, and was soon well established in many Asian countries (Lee and Rush, 1983). The pathogen is capable of infecting rice, soybeans, grass weeds, and hundreds of other plant species ...

Analysis of genetic interactions between rice and its pathogenic fungiMagnaporthe oryzae and Rhizoctonia solani should lead to a better understanding of molecular mechanisms of host resistance, and the improvement of strategies to manage rice blast and sheath blight diseases. Currently, dozens of rice resistance (R) genes against specific races of the blast fungus have been described. Among the...
متن کاملIdentification of Rice Genes to Tag Quantitative Resistance to Sheath Blight in Rice
The goal of this project is to develop molecular tools to control rice sheath blight disease. Toward this end, a subtracted rice copy-DNA (cDNA) (only the expressed DNA) library was created to identify differentially expressed genes at the early interface between a tolerant rice cultivar ‘Jasmine 85’ and a highly virulent Rhizoctonia solani isolate. R. solani-induced message RNAs were selected ...
متن کاملMapping and validation of QTLs for rice sheath blight resistance
Sheath blight, caused by Rhizoctonia solani, is one of the most serious diseases of rice. Among 33 rice accessions, mainly from National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences (NIAS) Core Collection, we found three landraces from the Himalayas-Jarjan, Nepal 555 and Nepal 8-with resistance to sheath blight in 3 years' field testing. Backcrossed inbred lines (BILs) derived from a cross between Jarj...
